About

Short profile

I am a university lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics, University of Žilina. My work focuses on applied operations research, mathematical optimisation, and computer simulation—especially integrating optimisation models with detailed simulation (microscopic / mesoscopic).

Appointments & education (selected):

  • 2006–2025: university lecturer / assistant professor (FRI UNIZA, DMMOR)
  • 2006–2012: PhD in Applied Informatics (FRI UNIZA)
  • 2001–2006: Master’s degree (Ing.) in Applied Informatics (FRI UNIZA)

Research & expertise

What I work on

Research interests:

  • Operations research and mathematical optimisation
  • Decision support and robust planning under uncertainty
  • Simulation models of transport and service systems (incl. online simulation)
  • Integration of optimisation with microscopic/mesoscopic simulation
  • Emergency medical services (EMS) modelling and planning

Methods & tools:

  • Discrete-event simulation (AnyLogic)
  • Mathematical programming (MILP), location models (e.g., p-median)
  • Model-based evaluation of timetables and operational plans
  • Java-based simulation tooling
MILP p-median discrete-event robustness
